Our second forestry office project is located in Hummelshain in the east of Thuringia. In consideration of the location the design shows a clear cut building "without" roof. Shape, size and direction of the design were strongly influenced by the specific topografic conditions.

The building is a wooden one storey box (horizontal wood-panels) hovering above a massive lower floor (fair-faced reinforced concrete) that stands in the slope. The ground floor spaces are grouped around the focal circulation space, which is illuminated with skylights - from here there will be a view of the landscape through the meeting room (glass partition).

The wooden body has large openings both on its north and south side thus emphasizing the building´s orientation towards the valley - in the same sense it "scates" on the massive base and is slightly shifted towards the valley.
